Romania’s current account deficit decreased in the January to July period from a year ago, figures from the Romanian Central Bank showed Monday.

The current account deficit for the first seven months of the year was EUR 337 million against EUR 997 million in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The goods and services trade surplus shrank to EUR 102 million in the January to July period from EUR 323 million last year.

At the same time, the deficit on primary income narrowed to EUR 1.7 billion in the seven months ended July from EUR 2.3 billion a year earlier. Meanwhile, the secondary income surplus rose to EUR 1.2 billion from EUR 962 million.
