Romania’s retail sales growth accelerated for the seventh consecutive month in December, figures from the National Institute of Statistics showed Wednesday.
Retail sales, excluding automobile trade surged a seasonally and working-day-adjusted 13.0 percent year-over-year in December, faster than the 12.8 percent climb in November, which was revised down from a 13.0 percent rise reported earlier. In October, sales grew 12.7 percent.
Sales of food, beverages and tobacco jumped 26.3 percent annually in December and that for non-food products gained by 9.3 percent.
On a monthly basis, retail sales rose at a slower pace of 0.6 percent in December, following a 2.3 percent increase in the preceding month.
