South Korea’s money supply growth accelerated at the start of the year, after easing in the previous month, preliminary figures from the Bank of Korea showed Wednesday.
M2, a broad measure of money supply, rose 8.1 percent year-over-year in January, faster than the 7.5 percent hike in December.
On a monthly basis, M2 money supply climbed 1.1 percent in January after showing no variations in the preceding month.
Meanwhile, annual growth in liquidity held steady at 8.6 percent in January. Similarly, liquidity of financial institutions grew at stable pace of 8.9 percent.
