Shooting in New York City 1 Dead 2 Injured
1 person was killed and 2 others injured in a shooting near New York City’s Penn Station, the key intercity railway hub in New York City, early on Monday, police said.
Dozens of officers responded after the shooting at Eighth Avenue and West 35th Street at about 6:15 a.m., according to the NYPD.
A man who identified himself as the brother of one of the victims told NBC 4 New York his brother and two other men were in a McDonald’s and were coaxed out onto the street. Once they did, he said they were shot at point-blank range.
All three victims were males and no information was available on the shooter or shooters or their whereabouts, New York police officer Christopher Pisano said.
The two who were injured were in serious condition and taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, New York fire department spokesman Michael Parrella said.
Investigators did not know what prompted the gunfire at 6:14 a.m. ET at the intersection of West 35th Street and 8th Avenue, Pisano said.
Fox News said the shooting occurred in a subway station.
Streets in the area were closed due to the investigation, police said on Twitter.
Penn Station in Manhattan is a major railway center where Amtrak and most commuter train lines converge.
