Slovakia’s consumer prices fell at a faster pace in September, extending the declining trend that started late last year, provisional data from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed Tuesday.

The consumer price index dropped 0.5 percent year-on-year following a 0.2 percent fall in each of the previous two months. Prices began declining in December last year and the latest decrease was the biggest since February.

Month-on-month, the CPI fell 0.3 percent in September, dropping for a third straight month.

Core inflation was flat in September as the index failed to rise for the first time in six months. In July and August, core inflation was 0.1 percent.

The core CPI declined 0.2 percent in September, same as in August. It was the third decrease in a row.
