Slovakia’s retail sales growth eased in December after accelerating in the previous month, figures from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed Wednesday.
Excluding automobiles, retail trade rose 2.7 percent year-over-year in December, slower than the 3.2 percent gain in November. It was the eighth month of increase in a row.
Sales of food beverages and tobacco in specialized stores surged 12.5 percent in December and automotive fuel sales grew by 10.5 percent. At the same time, retail sales at non-specialized stores dropped by 0.5 percent.
On a monthly basis, retail sales climbed 1.0 percent at the end of the year.
In the whole year 2015, total retail sales advanced 1.7 percent compared with the preceding year.
