Slovakia’s retail sales grew for the first time in three months in March, preliminary figures from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic revealed Wednesday.
Retail sales excluding automobiles climbed 1.9 percent year-on-year following a 0.3 percent fall in February. In January, sales had stagnated after a robust 4.3 percent growth in December.
Among components, sale of food, beverages and tobacco in specialised stores rose by 6.2 percent and sales in non-specialized stores grew 3.6 percent.
Sales grew 0.7 percent monthly in March.
In the first quarter of the year, retail sales increased 0.6 percent from the same period last year.
