Slovakia’s foreign trade surplus increased in March from the previous month, figures from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed Monday.
The foreign trade surplus rose to EUR 579 million in March from EUR 512.3 million in February. In March 2014, the surplus was EUR 349.2 million.
Exports increased 6.5 percent year-on-year in March, after a 1.4 percent growth in the previous month. Shipments rose for a second straight month.
Imports also grew for the second month running, rising 2.5 percent in March.
In the first quarter of this year, total exports of goods increased by 1.7 percent and imports moved up 0.8 percent from a year ago. The trade surplus rose by EUR 167 million to EUR 1.48 billion from the previous year quarter.
