Spain’s import prices continued to decline in February, but at a slower pace than in the previous month, figures from the statistical office INE showed Monday.

The import price index of industrial products fell 5.5 percent year-over-year in February, slower than January’s 6.4 percent decline. Excluding energy, the index climbed 2.0 percent.

On a monthly basis, import prices rose 0.9 percent in February, reversing a 1.8 percent decrease in the previous month. It was the first increase in five months.

At the same time, the export price index climbed 0.4 percent in February, in contrast to a 0.6 percent fall in the prior month.

It was the first increase since February 2013, the agency said. Excluding energy, the index increased by 0.7 percent after a 0.2 percent gain in the previous month.

Month-on-month, export prices rose for the first time in five months, up by 0.1 percent in February, after a 0.3 percent drop in January.
