Spain’s industrial production growth accelerated in May after easing sharply in the previous month, figures from the statistical office INE showed Monday.

Industrial production expanded a seasonally and calendar-adjusted 3.4 percent year-over-year in May, faster than previous month’s 1.7 percent climb.

On an unadjusted basis, industrial production growth eased to 1.7 percent in May from 2.5 percent in April.

All sub-components of industrial production grew in May. Production of capital goods surged 6.2 percent and that for intermediate goods sector rose by 4.9 percent. Energy production advanced 3.3 percent and consumer goods sector rose 0.3 percent.

On a monthly basis, industrial production climbed at a faster pace of 0.8 percent in May, following 0.1 percent slight gain in the preceding month. It was the sixth successive monthly increase.
