Spain’s producer prices declined at a faster pace in September, figures from the statistical office INE showed Monday.
The producer price index dipped 3.6 percent year-over-year in September, faster than the 2.2 percent drop in the previous month.
Prices have been falling since July last year. The latest rate of decrease was the steepest since December 2014, when prices had fallen the same 3.6 percent.
Energy prices alone plunged 14.2 percent in September from a year ago, marking the lowest since July 2009, as a result of declining prices, transmission and distribution of electricity.
Excluding energy, producer prices rose 0.4 percent annually in September , but slower than August’s 0.6 percent climb.
On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped 0.9 percent in September, following a 1.7 percent decrease in August. It was the second successive monthly fall.
