Spain’s jobless rate decreased in the three months ended September, figures from the statistical office INE showed Thursday.

The unemployment rate fell to 21.18 percent in the third quarter from 22.37 percent in the previous quarter. In the corresponding period last year, the jobless rate was 23.67 percent.

The number of unemployed people decreased by 298,200 persons over the previous quarter to 4.85 million in the three-month period to September.

At the same time, employment grew by 182,200 people quarterly to 18.04 million in the third quarter.
