Spain’s foreign trade deficit increased in November from a year ago, as imports grew faster than exports, figures from the Economy Ministry showed Thursday.

The trade deficit widened to EUR 1.85 billion in November from EUR 1.6 billion in the corresponding month last year.

Exports climbed 8.6 percent year-over-year to EUR 21.7 billion in November. Imports surged 9.3 percent to EUR 23.5 billion.

In the January to November period, total trade deficit of the country was EUR 22.38 billion, which was 1.2 percent lower than in the same period of 2014. Both exports and imports rose by 4.3 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively.
