Spain’s industrial production grew at a slower pace in May, figures from the statistical office INE showed Wednesday.

Annual growth in industrial production eased to adjusted 1 percent from 2.6 percent in April. This was the weakest growth in more than a year.

On an unadjusted basis, industrial output advanced by 4 percent on a yearly basis, much slower than the 8.9 percent expansion posted in April.

Production of consumer goods and intermediate goods grew by adjusted 1.2 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively. Capital goods output logged a notable 5.6 percent annual expansion. On the other hand, energy output dropped 3.8 percent.

Month-on-month, industrial output decreased for the second consecutive time in May. Production slid 0.5 percent following a 0.1 percent decrease in April.
