Spain’s retail sales growth accelerated in March, data from the statistical office INE revealed Wednesday.

Retail sales logged an annual growth of 2.8 percent in March, faster than the revised 2.5 percent increase seen in February. Nonetheless, the annual increase was slower than a 3.6 percent rise forecast by economists.

On an unadjusted basis, retail sales increased 3.7 percent versus 2.5 percent growth a month ago.

Month-on-month, retail sales remained flat in March after falling 0.8 percent in February and 0.5 percent in January.
