Sweden’s unemployment rate dropped more-than-expected in March, after remaining stable in the previous month, figures from Statistics Sweden showed Tuesday.
The unadjusted jobless rate fell to 8.0 percent in March from 8.4 percent in February. Economists had expected the rate to decrease to 8.3 percent.
In the same month of the previous year, the unemployment rate was 8.6 percent.
The number of unemployed people decreased to 414,00 in March from 433,000 in the preceding month. A year earlier, the jobless figure totaled 440,000.
The number of hours worked in March averaged 159.4 million per week, up from 157.2 million the prior month.
The smoothed and seasonally adjusted jobless rate dropped slightly to 7.7 percent in March from 7.8 percent in February.
