Sweden’s unemployment rate decreased more-than-expected in November, after remaining stable in the previous month, figures from Statistics Sweden showed Thursday.
The jobless rate fell to 6.2 percent in November from 6.7 percent in the preceding month. Economists had expected the unemployment rate to drop slightly to 6.6 percent.
In the corresponding month last year, the jobless rate was 7.4 percent.
The number of unemployed people decreased to 325,000 in November from 349,000 in October. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 380,000.
Smoothed and seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped marginally to 7.0 percent in November from 7.1 percent a month earlier.
The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15 to 24 age group, declined to 15.1 percent in November from 22.0 percent in the same month of the prior year.
