Sweden’s producer prices decreased for the second straight month in August, figures from Statistics Sweden showed Thursday.

The producer price index fell 1.4 percent year-over-year in August, faster than the 0.6 percent drop in the previous month. In June, prices had risen 0.5 percent.

Import prices dipped 3.9 percent in August from a year ago and domestic market prices went down by 2.0 percent. Similarly, prices on the export market dropped 0.7 percent. ?Prices for domestic supply, combining domestic and import markets, fell by 3.0 percent.

Lower prices for crude oil contributed to the decrease on the import market. The downturn was counteracted by a weakening of the Swedish krona, the agency said.

On a monthly basis, producer prices rose slightly by 0.2 percent in August. Export prices climbed 0.7 percent, while import prices edged down by 0.2 percent. Prices in the domestic market dropped 0.3 percent.
