Sweden’s trade surplus increased more-than-expected in March, as exports grew faster than imports, figures from Statistics Sweden showed Tuesday.
The trade surplus climbed notably to SEK 4.2 billion in March from SEK 0.8 billion in the same month of the previous year. Economists had expected a surplus of SEK 2.0 billion. In February, the surplus totaled SEK 3.8 billion.
Exports surged 13.0 percent annually in March and imports grew by 9.0 percent. The non-EU trade surplus was SEK 11.8 billion in March, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 7.6 billion.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the trade surplus was SEK 3.0 billion in March versus SEK 2.8 billion in the preceding month.
