Switzerland’s unemployment rate rose in September in line with economists’ expectations, figures from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) showed Thursday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate climbed to 3.4 percent from 3.3 percent in August.

The unadjusted figure held steady at 3.2 percent. In the same month last year, the rate was 3 percent.

The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15-24 age group, increased to 3.7 percent from 3.6 percent. A year ago, the figure was 3.5 percent.
