Taiwan’s gross domestic product contracted 0.28 percent on year in the fourth quarter of 2015, the statistics office said on Friday.

That missed forecasts for a decline of 0.25 percent following the 0.63 percent contraction in the third quarter.

And with two consecutive quarters of contraction, it also puts the country in a technical recession.

On a quarterly basis, GDP advanced 3.2 percent.

For all of 2015, GDP expanded 0.85 percent – marking the slowest rate of growth since the financial crisis.
