Taiwan’s industrial output growth eased more than expected in April, data published by the Ministry of Economic Affairs showed Monday.

Industrial production grew 1.06 percent on a yearly basis in April. Economists had forecast the annual growth to slow to 4.1 percent from revised 6.65 percent in March.

On a monthly basis, industrial production decreased 4.8 percent in April.

Mining and quarrying output slid 1.74 percent but slower than the 8.62 percent annual decline in March.

At the same time, output of electricity and gas supply plunged 7.54 percent following a 4.1 percent fall. Water supply fell 5.81 percent, while buildings construction surged 21.16 percent.

Further, annual growth in manufacturing slowed to 1.15 percent from 7.17 percent a month ago.
