There were just 10 Ferrari 275  Spyder NART’s built at the factory. This car was the last one build, and the only one sold new in Europe.

Originally the car was painted Grigio Scuro (a medium grey). It has been redone in a muted Red, which a change from Ferrari’s signature Red.

The NART name stands for North American Racing Team, and the convertible production run is credited to the US Ferrari distributor Luigi Chinetti, who wanted to boost the 275  model’s sales with a Limited Edition  model.

Ferrari planned to build 25 cars, but there was less of a demand that thought, so just 10 were constructed, some were raced.

The 1st Spyder NART  finished 2nd in class at the Y 1967 12 Hours of Sebring, also the model has some Steve McQueen “Cool” about it due to a  role in original The Thomas Crown Affair movie.

This car, s/n 11057, was sold new in Madrid to a Spanish Foreign Legion Colonel, and spent its 1st 14 years in Spain. The in the early 1980’s it was bought by a Swiss collector, who had it restored for the 1st time, and in the mid-90’s it went to the UK.

The current livery dates to Y 2001, the saddle tan leather interior re-trim is from Y 2009. Despite its change in livery, it is a full numbers-matching example that retains the 300-hp V12 it received at the Maranello factory.

A similar NART Spider was auctioned at RMSotheby’s (NYSE:BID) Auctions’ Monterey event in Y 2013, for $27.5-M. That example, finished in bright Ferrari Red was estimated at $17-M tops. It will be interesting to see whether this car will surpass its estimate at the auction to be held on 14 May in Monaco.
