The New Dino Ferrari Is In The Works

The Dino brand (once a Fiat, now a Ferrari), created for models with engines with fewer than 12 cylinders, spanned from Y 1968 to 1976 and included cars such as the iconic 206 GT and 246 GTS pictured below.

It now it looks like Ferrari is going to bring back the iconic badge for an new entry-level sports car.

Rumors about Ferrari planning to develop a V-6-powered sports car have been around for a few years now.

Fiat Chrysler (NYSE:FCAU) Boss Sergio Marchionne finally announced  June 2015 that a V-6 Ferrari is “not a question of if but when.”

2 months have passed since then and a photographers caught a 458 -based “mule” on the street. According to the photog, the car didn’t sound like the usual V-8. What is more, the mule was followed by a 488 that did not sound like it was using a turbocharged V-8, but like the turbo V-6 used in the new 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV.

This means that Ferrari is testing the sports car that will revive the Dino badge just as the company is preparing to go public on the NYSE in an IPO this October.

This is the likely scenario since the 458 mule sports a number of features hinting at a new exterior and a different powerplant.

It will likely take at least 12 months until to see a pre-production body on that mule, but that will not stop the speculation what this new Ferrari might bring to the market, not to mention keeping Wall Street analysts busy crunching estimated revenue numbers. Public stakeholders focus on the “bottom line” Quarterly.

Wall Street will require Ferrari to perform on the track as well as on The Street.

Stay tuned…
