The Race To End GMO Foods In America

$MON, $HAIN, $CMG

Regardless of whether GMO labeling ends up decimating the GE food market or not, the Key issue is to offer truthful information so consumers can make an informed choice, whether or not they specifically want to seek out GE foods, or avoid them.

Based on the evidence, the recommendation of many experts is to them, and growing awareness of GMOs has created a stronger call for non-GMO foods in the US. Just a few years ago, the vast majority of Americans had never even heard of GMOs and had no idea they were eating those foods, or that it might be linked to health problems they or their children were having.

But, with each attempt to get GE foods labeled, the consumer call for non-GMO food has risen, leading Chipotle (NYSE:CMG) to respond by removing GMO’s from its menu. While many consumers cheered the decision, the conventional media was less kind.

Chipotle has been called irresponsible, anti-science, irrational, and much more by the Washington Post, Time Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, the LA Times, and many others. A business deciding to give consumers what they want was never so contentious.

The Big Q: Why the contention?

The Big A: Probably because Chipotle started what could end up being a race to be GMO-free. This is a grim scenario for industrial farming.

GMO doomsday may be closer than we think.

Recently, Hain Celestial (NASDAQ:HAIN) said ‘We sell organic products… gluten-free products and… natural products. But where the big demand is, is GMO-free.” Hain Celestial is actively seeking to meet the demand.

Deciding to eliminate GMO foods from our diet and replacing them with locally grown Organics is among the most important health decisions you can make for yourself and your family, especially if you have young children or struggle with any kind of chronic disease.

Watchdog reporting by the conventional media is almost nonexistent, as the news is increasingly dictated by political forces and industrial sponsors.

Note: The bill passed by the US House of Representatives Thursday would prevent such state laws, freeing the food industry from the obligation to disclose any use of so-called GMO’s in their products.

Eat healthy, Be healthy, Live lively.
