The Tetrahedron Super Yacht, A Flying Pyramid

The Gulf’s ultra-wealthy could soon have a ‘Flying Pyramid’ to take out to sea, the radical designs for the Tetrahedron Super Yacht have been revealed

The waters of the Arabian Gulf may soon be home to levitating Pyramids if London-based architect Jonathan Schwinge has a say in the matter.

The designer has revealed a series of renderings for a concept that could revolutionize super yachts – a market that has a great many devotees in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Mr. Schwinge’s ambitious Tetrahedron Super Yacht has been likened to an alien Spaceship and a Flying Pyramid, and has been billed as aviation on the sea, with its distinctive look and cutting edge technology making it a multi-million dollar prospect for the region’s most wealthy residents.

A vertical strut attached to a submerged torpedo-shaped hull would allow the ship to levitate and effectively fly over the water at speeds of up to 38 knots (70kph), and a range of 3,000 nautical miles.

According to Mr. Schwinge the design would control roll forces, pitch and heave, allowing the vessel to move smoothly.

Although neither the cost of the yacht project nor the expected retail price has been revealed, boat owners in countries such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar could be 1st in line for the new concept.

The Dubai International Boat Show and Qatar International Boat show attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year, with some of the most luxurious and state-of-the-art super yachts on display.
