The Voters That Like Donald Trump “Really Like Him”
At least 34% of Republican voters who support Donald Trump could turn their backs on the GOP in November’s Presidential election if he is denied the nomination in a contested convention, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The results are Bad News for Donald Trump’s rivals as well as party’s elite establishment that opposed him, suggesting that an alternative Republican nominee for the 8 November presidential race would have a tough road against the Democrat’s nominee.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted between 30 March and 8 April asked Trump’s Republican supporters 2 questions, as follows;
- If Donald Trump wins the most delegates in the primaries but loses the nomination, what would they do on Election Day?
- How would it impact their relationship with the Republican Party?
66% said they would vote for the candidate who wins the nomination, while the remaining 34% were split between a number of alternatives such as not voting, supporting a 3rd-party candidate, and switching parties and voting for the Democratic nominee.
58% said they would remain with the Republican Party.
16% said they would leave it, and 26% said they did not know what they would do with their registration.
The online poll of 468 Republican Trump supporters has a credibility interval of 5.3 percentage points.

Donald Trump has topped the national polls throughout most of the race for the Republican nomination, and has won more delegates than any other Republican to date.
A Reuters/Ipsos online poll from 4-8 April shows that 42% of Republicans support Donald Trump, compared with 32% for Ted Cruz and 20% for John Kasich.
Both Messrs Cruz and Kasich say their paths to victory rely on winning at least enough votes to block an outright win for donald Trump and force a decision at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
But Donald Trump predicted last month there would be riots outside the convention if he was blocked.
The departure of even a small number of Republicans would make it very tough for the GOP to prevent the Democrats from winning the White House, especially if the election is again decided by thin margins in battleground states.
In Y 2012, US President Barack Hussein Obama won Florida by less than 1% and Ohio and Virginia by less than 4%.
Both Mrssrs Trump and Cruz trail Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton among likely general election voters in a hypothetical general election matchup, but not by much, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos polls.
If the Rino GOP elite establishment tries to take away the choice of The People, the GOP may become the POP (Party of the PAST).
