Two days after Trump unveiled the latest major overhaul to his campaign, which saw the addition of Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway effectively, and demoting his existing campaign chairman, Paul Manafort following media reports that Manafort had funding links to the Ukraine, moments ago – in the latest surprising personnel change to the Trump campaign – , Trump announced that Paul Manafort has resigned.
Trump sent out the following statement:
“This morning Paul Manafort offered, and I accepted, his resignation from the campaign,” Trump said in a statement e-mailed by his campaign. “I am very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process. Paul is a true professional and I wish him the greatest success.”
Whether this is in response to Trump’s “regretful” announcement last night, and how this will impact the Trump campaign, remains to be seen.
