Turkey’s current account deficit decreased in January from a year ago, figures from the Turkish Central Bank showed Thursday.
The current account deficit dropped to $2.23 billion in January from $2.44 billion in the corresponding month last year.
The goods trade deficit narrowed to $2.8 billion in January from $3.01 billion a year earlier. Similarly, the deficit on trade including services decreased to $1.88 billion from $1.98 billion.
At the same time, the capital account balance turned to a surplus of $15 million from a deficit of $2.0 million. The financial account deficit fell considerably to $3.3 billion from $6.7 billion.
