The U.K. unemployment rate remained unchanged at a 10-year low during November to January period, data from the Office for National Statistics showed Wednesday.
The jobless rate came in at 5.1 percent in three months to January, unchanged from the fourth quarter of 2015. The rate also matched economists’ expectations.
The number of unemployed decreased by 28,000 from three months to October to 1.68 million.
The employment rate was 74.1 percent, the joint highest since comparable records began in 1971.
Average weekly earnings for employees increased by 2.1 percent including bonuses, and by 2.2 percent excluding bonuses compared with a year earlier. Economists had forecast earnings including bonus to rise 2 percent.
The claimant count held steady at 2.1 percent in February, slightly below the expected 2.2 percent.
The number of people claiming unemployment related benefit decreased by 18,000 to 716,700 in February. It was forecast to fall by 9,100.
