First-time claims for U.S. unemployment benefits unexpectedly came in flat in the week ended November 7th, according to a report released by the Labor Department on Thursday.

The report said initial jobless claims came in at 276,000, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised level. Economists had expected jobless claims to dip to 270,000.
