US durable goods order for April is expected to have remained flat, said Societe Generale in a research report. However, the projection comes with certain possible risks on the upside. Last month, Boeing registered 34 orders, as compared with 69 recorded in March. This might result in a drop of 1% in the transportation category. But the March’s orders of 60 were up sharply from February’s order of only two and that was not seen in the durables report.
Instead, non-defence aircraft orders declined 5.7% in March following a fall of 26.6% in February. Therefore, there is a possibility that the sharp increase Boeing reported in March might be materialized in April, added Societe Generale. Still, excluding transportation, orders are expected to have stayed weak, growing only 0.2%. Orders for non-defence capital goods ex-aircraft are likely to have grown at tad by 0.1%.
