Highlights of the February 2017 US retail sales report:
– Prior was +0.4% (revised to +0.6%)
– Ex autos +0.2% vs +0.1% m/m expected
– Prior ex autos was +0.8% (revised to +1.2%)
The story here is the revisions. January was revised much higher and that’s a great sign going forward. That’s good news for the consumer and helps to justify today’s hike and some optimism going forward.
