U.S. president Barrack Obama officially endorsed Democratic presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton, for the first time in the race. So far, both the President and Vice-President Joe Biden maintained their impartiality but now their endorsement means it’s time for Sanders to quit the race and bow out.
“I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office,” Mr. Obama was seen saying that in a video, posting in Mrs. Clinton’s campaign website. He shrugged off the idea that Democratic Party is divided, “I know some say these primaries have somehow left the Democratic Party more divided. Well, you know, they said that eight years ago as well.”
President Obama met Senator Sanders on Thursday and after which the video was released. That means Sanders has bowed to the fact that Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee. After meeting Mr. Sanders indicated that he might throw his support behind Mrs. Clinton, although he vowed to continue his campaign until the Washington primary next week. He said, “I look forward to meeting with her in the very near future to see how we can work together to defeat Donald Trump and to create a government which represents all of us and not just the 1 percent,”, speaking to reporters after the meeting.
Mr. Obama credited Mr. Sanders for running an incredible campaign and inspiring legions of first-time voters. Mr. Sanders thanked President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for their impartiality throughout the campaign.
