The dollar posted fresh declines the yen, dollar bloc and the euro, though the latter itself came under some pressure after ECB’s Nowotny said that inflation was “clearly” below target. Nowotny’s remarks were followed by BoS deputy governor, Nestoy, who said that the ECB may extend QE. EUR-USD ebbed to a low of 1.1425, leaving a three-week peak at 1.1495. USD-JPY, meanwhile, clocked an eight-week low at 118.10, and sterling extended yesterday’s outsized gain, rising today north of 1.5500 for the first time in three-weeks.
