Sunday,13 September, International Chocolate Day celebrates the birthday of Milton S. Hershey, founder of the famous Chocolate company and the company town of Hershey, PA.

Below  are 10 interesting facts about Chocolate, as follows:

  1. Chocolate comes from the cocoa pod, a fruit that grows in tropical forests. Cocoa beans are the dried and fermented seeds from the fruit.
  2. When eaten in moderation, studies have indicated the antioxidants in Dark Chocolate may reduce blood pressure and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.
  3. There’s a reason why chocolate makes us feel good. Chocolate contains the chemical phenylethylamine which increases feel-good endorphins in our brains.
  4.  Americans eat over 10 lbs of Chocolate yearly.
  5. M&Ms were created in Y 1941 so that soldiers could enjoy a snack that would not melt in the warm weather.
