The Czech Republic’s construction output grew modestly in August after a surge in the previous month as building activity declined, preliminary data from the Czech Statistical Office showed Wednesday.

Construction output dropped 4.7 percent annually in August following a 12.3 percent jump in the previous month. That was the weakest pace of growth since late last year.

Building activity decreased 2 percent after a 5.6 percent increase in July. Civil engineering works grew 18.3 percent following 26.7 percent climb in the previous month.

Compared to the previous month, construction output fell 3.6 percent in August.
