Czech economic sentiment improved for the first time in five months, survey figures from the Czech Statistical Office showed Monday.

The economic sentiment indicator rose to 10.4 from 10 registered in April and March. It equaled the reading in February and was the highest since January’s 11.5.

The business confidence index climbed for a second month running in May, rising to 12.7 from 11.9 in April. It was also the best reading since the start of the year, when the score was 13.3.

The consumer confidence index, meanwhile, dropped for a second straight month to its lowest level in six months. The measure fell to 1.3 from 2 in the previous month.

The indicators for industrial and service confidence rose, the measure for construction sector morale remained unchanged and the index for sentiment in the trade sector declined.
