Dutch exports increased at the fastest pace in seven months in August, figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics showed Monday.

Exports expanded 5.4 percent year-on-year in August, the biggest rise since January, when it advanced 6.1 percent. Shipments moved up 4 percent in July. It was the fifteenth successive monthly rise.

Higher demand for petroleum and metal products underpinned exports. Food shipments also improved.

At the same time, imports increased 5.3 percent annually in August, following a 0.3 percent rise in the prior month.
