The Eurozone trade surplus held steady in October, defying economists’ expectations for an increase, data from Eurostat showed Wednesday.

The seasonally adjusted trade surplus came in at EUR 19.9 billion in October, same as in the previous month. Meanwhile, economists had expected the surplus to climb to EUR 20.6 billion.

On an unadjusted basis, the trade surplus grew to EUR 24.1 billion in October from EUR 22.4 billion in September.

Shipments increased 1.0 percent year-over-year in October, while imports showed no variations.
