France’s EU measure of inflation remained stable in September, data published by the statistical office Insee showed Wednesday.

The harmonized index of consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent year-on-year in September, the same rate as seen in August and in line with expectations.

On a monthly basis, harmonized consumer prices dropped 0.4 percent as expected, offsetting 0.4 percent rise in August.

Consumer price inflation remained flat in September as reported in August. Economists had forecast a 0.1 percent rise.

Food prices advanced 0.9 percent, while clothing and footwear prices dropped by similar 0.9 percent. Energy prices logged an annual decline of 5.9 percent.

Month-on-month, consumer prices slid 0.4 percent, reversing August’s 0.3 percent increase.

Core consumer prices fell 0.2 percent from August, when it rose 0.1 percent. Annually, core inflation came in at 0.6 percent as in August.
