Hungary’s current account surplus grew more-than-expected in the third quarter, figures from the Magyar Nemzeti Bank showed Wednesday.

The current account surplus rose to EUR 1.725 billion from EUR 1.182 billion in the same period last year. Economists had forecast a EUR 1.650 billion surplus.

In the second quarter, the current account surplus was EUR 1.036 billion.

The trade surplus rose to EUR 2.746 billion from EUR 2.411 billion a year ago.

The capital account showed a surplus of EUR 1.038 billion versus EUR 926 million last year. The financial account surplus grew to EUR 2.679 billion from EUR 1.266 billion in the same period last year.
