Japanese national inflation figures saw an minor improvement, as expected, during the month of February, while on the flip side, updated Tokyo inflation figures for the month of March did not do quite so well, keeping the case for further easing.
Today’s data shows national CPI y/y for Feb at 0.3% vs expected 0.3% and prior 0%, national CPI y/y excluding Fresh Food for Feb stood at 0% vs expected 0% and prior 0%, while national CPI excluding Food, Energy y/y for Feb came at 0.8% vs expected 0.8% and prior 0.7%.
As per Tokyo CPIs, the y/y for March came at -0.1% vs expected 0.0% and prior 0.1%, Tokyo CPI excluding Fresh Food y/y for March stood at -0.3% vs expected -0.2% and prior -0.1%, while Tokyo CPI excluding Food, Energy y/y for March was 0.6%, expected 0.5% and prior 0.5%.
