Lithuania’s consumer prices declined for the ninth straight month in August at a faster pace, figures from the Department of Statistics showed Tuesday.

The consumer price index fell 1.2 percent year-over-year in August, following a 0.5 percent stable rate of decrease in July.

Transport costs plunged 6.8 percent annually in August and utility costs dipped by 5.1 percent. Prices of clothing and footwear also went down by 1.4 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.8 percent in August, after a 0.5 percent fall in the prior month. It was the third month of decrease in a row.
