Mexico’s consumer prices declined for the first time in three months during April, data from the statistical office INEGI showed Thursday.
The consumer price index fell 0.26 percent from March, when it rose 0.41 percent. Economists had expected a 0.24 percent drop in the measure. It was the first fall since January.
Annual inflation eased to 3.06 percent in April from 3.14 percent in March. Economists had expected an inflation rate of 3.08 percent.
The core CPI rose 0.16 percent from March, when it climbed 0.26 percent. Economists had predicted a 0.15 percent gain. Core annual inflation was 2.31 percent.
