New Zealand’s job advertisements increased for the fourth consecutive month in December, the results of a survey by ANZ showed Thursday.

Total job ads rose a seasonally adjusted 1.1 percent month-over-month in December, but slower than the 2.4 percent climb in November.

It was the fourth successive monthly spike of over 1 percent, for the first time this has occurred since early 2011, the agency said.

Newspaper ads also grew at a slower pace of 5.1 percent monthly in December, following a 12.1 percent surge in the prior month. Similarly, internet job ads went up 0.7 percent, after a 1.5 percent rise registered a month ago.

The annual growth in the rolling 3-month average of job ad volumes quickened to 2.8 percent in December from 1.8 percent in the previous month.
