With just two days left until the election, John Podesta went on one of the Clinton campaign’s “friendly” political talk shows to bash FBI agents leaking harmful info about their various investigations into Hillary’s assorted criminal cases. In an interview that wreaked of a little desperation, Podesta lashed out at FBI agents saying “the leakers should shut up.”
I think what Mr. Comey did just 9 days ago was a mistake. I think it broke with precedent. I think it was criticized roundly by democrats and republicans. It was a mistake.
There is a reason for that policy. It looked like it was interfering in the election.
I think the men and women of the FBI are doing a tremendous job out here across the country. But the leakers should shut up.
When asked whether Comey should resign for his “mistake,” Podesta said that he’s never questioned Comey’s motivation but that it was a mistake nonetheless.
Of course, this interview came before Comey just released yet another letter to Congress confirming that after a review of 650,000 emails found on Anthony Weiner’s laptop that his recommendation to not pursue charges against Hillary stood. It’s unclear how this new revelation will impact the “leakers,” though to the extent they continue to disagree with Comey’s assessment it could very well result in accelerated leaks by disgruntled FBI agents.
Ironically, Podesta didn’t offer any criticism of Loretta Lynch or her Justice Department for obviously obstructing the original FBI investigation after having a 30-minute secret conversation with Bill Clinton on a tarmac in Phoenix earlier this year and having other DOJ lawyers explicitly instruct FBI agents to “stand down” on active leads into alleged Clinton Foundation corruption.
