At 4:30 am ET Tuesday, the Office for National Statistics is scheduled to issue the U.K. trade data. The visible trade gap is forecast to narrow to GBP 9.95 billion in April from GBP 10.12 billion in March.

Ahead of the data, the pound slipped against its major rivals.

The pound was worth 1.5289 against the greenback, 190.34 against the yen, 0.7379 against the euro and 1.4163 against the franc as of 4:25 am ET.
