President Jean-Claude Juncker of the European commission on Saturday spoke to Alexis Tsipras, Greece’s Prime Minister, and will speak again on Sunday to seek a solution to the debt crisis of Athens, an EU official said.
Senior officials have remained in close contact over the weekend ahead of a meeting of finance ministers and euro zone leaders scheduled for Monday, the official said.
