The US dollar held little losses versus a basket of major currencies Wednesday ahead of US retail sales data due today.
According to projections, retail sales are said to climb 0.2% in April from 0.9% leap in March.
The greenback stood at $1.1216 per euro and $1.5668 per British pound. Against the Japanese yen, the dollar dropped to ¥119.87 from ¥120.28.
Another firm outcome is necessary, but not sufficient “to keep the 2015 hike talk alive,” said Emma Lawson, Senior Currency Strategist at National Australia Bank.
